Al Pelayo

WALKING
for LIFE

~ Al Pelayo ~

Al Pelayo pictured with 4 of his 10 Grandchildren Left to Right:  Alec, Anuhea, Lessa and Taimane A retired Hawaiian engineer 29 years with Rockwell. At 74, he’s walking every morning averaging 3 to 5 miles.

He says he has to be creative in producing the will to get up and get going. He changes his route every so often, and he also takes his hands free radio walkman to enjoy listening to a talk show during his walk. Before long, he’s back home for breakfast with his wife Mary.

These days, you’ll find Pelayo spending most of his time with his grandchildren. When they are in school, you’ll find him in the garden caring for his exotic island plants and flowers. But his passion would be in his garage building “Hawaiian Ukuleles” for his children and grandchildren.

Pelayo says that walking has really helped the circulation in his body, which helps him stay active in all that he does every day. He hopes his testimony will help others at his age to stay active too.

Walk when you can, and keeping up with your grandchildren will help also. Aloha!
